Dustcovers in Nieu Bethesda is a bookshop made for, and run by, true booklovers – Victoria Nance and Nico Zaverdinos.
This is where you’ll find works on the Karoo as well as an eclectic mix of good books, from easy holiday reads to some of the world’s great authors.
On Dustcovers’ shelves you’ll find authors like Vladimir Nabokov, Etienne van Heerden, Ken Kesey, William Faulkner, John Fowles, Tom Wolfe, Jack Kerouac, Sylvia Plath, James Michener.
Dustcovers also has a strong young-adult section as well as some interesting Africana, sold to raise money for the Port Elizabeth Children’s Feeding Fund.
Victoria also cannot resist truly obscure books – ones that focus on unusual subjects like ventriloquism or glove puppetry, tiaras past and present, or the history of the handkerchief.
Apart from being very knowledgeable about books, Victoria is a noted crocheter. Her shawls are unique creations of great beauty and in serious demand during winter.
- Dustcovers is open from 10am to 4pm most days. Closed Tuesdays and open from 11am to 2pm on Sundays.
