The Cradock Market Street Precinct includes Die Tuishuise, The Victoria Manor Hotel and the Olive Schreiner Museum around the corner in Cross Street.
A visitor from Barcelona, Spain, who calls herself Bolly1956 on her TripAdvisor posts, recently spent time in Market Street and had this to say about the various assets:

“Best small museum anywhere”
The story of Olive Schreiner – a pioneer feminist – is incredibly interesting. Here is her house with its interior restored to its original detail and the story of her life told across the walls. I can’t tell you how fascinating her life was and how courageous she was for her time. If there is one place to visit in the Eastern Cape then it should be here.

“Wonderful!”
We stayed overnight in a very comfortable room – The Frontier. Right next door is a fantastic cafe – the Schreiner – where we had home cooked lunch. The pate was superb as was the soup. The little town is definitely worth a visit and a must is the Schreiner museum – probably the most interesting small museum I’ve been in anywhere.
Well done, guys. It’s great to see local tourism get a boost like this from an overseas visitor!
