Snow has fallen for the first time this year on Karoo National Park outside Beaufort West.  The first snowfall came overnight on 1 June, with a top-up again a week later in the area of the Park known as Puttervslei.

The Nuweveld Mountains are still white with snow. So far, though, there’s nothing to match the snows of 2012.

Park manager Nico van der Walt said “Last year we had snow twice – once in July and again in September.  That snowfall was much heavier, and came down as low as the area known as the middle plateau.”
